Do we need to be optimistic to make a change?

I suppose it would take a small amount of pessimism, optimism and pragmatism to make change. Pessimism that the way things are going isn’t the answer and that change needs to happen. Optimism that change is possible and that people can actually enact change. And lastly, the pragmatism and patience to plan out the change and see it through rather than simply advocating for change and hoping that other’s will take care of it.
