Do we lose any electricity when we try and store it?

Yes. Our current scientific capabilities do not allow us to have 100% efficient transfer of energy so energy will always be lost when it is transferred from one form to another. Moreover, batteries inevitably get old and slowly lose their charge so even after it is stored, the electricity will continue to siphon off slowly.
