Do we look at the entire lifecycle of products right now?

I’m not sure who “we” is–I do, and I hope you do and I hope my friends do, but there is no law requiring us to, and the vast majority of companies absolutely do not.  Think of all the products at a Wal-Mart–how many of those companies seem environmentally sound to you?  How much packaging do they use, and what happens to them when are no longer useful?  Further, how quickly does it take them to break?  In a nation where low prices are often the priority, products with a short, wasteful life often succeed commercially.
