Do we hear more about the poaching of endangered species than regular species?

Yes! Off-season hunting of non-endangered animals is a much less major crime than hunting an endangered species, so it’s natural that hunting an endangered species is more likely to make the news. However, if you live in an area where there are few endangered species (like the American Midwest) but quite a few people who ignore hunting laws, the news coverage may be skewed towards illegal game-hunting rather than endangered species poaching.
