do we have the right to tell Brazil not to cut down the rainforest for development?

Until a time comes when the world’s resources are seen to be for the benefit of all living creatures on Earth and not simply owned by individual countries, then I don’t think we have the right to stop anyone from even terrible environmental practices. To do so might insight war, which is what is feared about dwindling water supplies. After all, the US does not protect all of its resources either. We do need to put a higher value on the resources like the rainforest and find ways that countries like Brazil can keep growing economically in a more sustainable way. We can also put political pressure on countries using worldwide protocols and guidelines and social pressure by continuing to make the public aware of how devastating rainforest loss is. I would love to see a Sustainability Treaty that protects “endangered” resources.
