At the moment, yes. The number of idle shipping containers is pretty much a function of the strength of the global economy. Since the world’s economy is currently in a slump, there is a little less demand for empty shipping containers in places like China since there are reduced exports being shipped. This has created a bit of a problem in shipping hubs like Hong Kong, which now have to find a way to store shipping containers that typically would always be on the move.
