It is a good idea to keep a list of locations of toxic waste dump sites. It’d be rather horrible for the people living near the sites or even on them if the location is unknown. This has happened before and arsenic got into a neighborhood’s water supply because it was over top a toxic waste site. Many individuals died because of it.
These sites are called superfund sites. They uncontrolled or abandoned places where hazardous waste is located, possibly affecting local ecosystems or people. Superfund still tries to track sites. They have a list and a locator available at the EPA
