Do we have to have our propane tanks tested for safety every so often?

When you take your propane tank in to be filled, it will undergo a visual inspection before the bottle filler can fill it.  He will look for dents, bulges, cracks, excessive rust, missing or damaged parts, the date of manufacture, and readability for required cylinder safety markings.  If the tank fails the visual inspection, you will need to buy a new tank.
