Pesticides promote natural selection. The most fit survive and reproduce individuals. Unfortunately this next generation has the ability to survive the pesticides and is greater in numbers. Since the 1950s the number of pesticides has been increasing to combat this. Stronger pesticides are being used to get rid of some of these super bugs, but yet some of them still find a way to evolve. Today, integrated pest management is growing in popularity. Natural predators of the pests are encouraged to bring down pest numbers and pesticides are only used as a last resort to stop the spread of these super bugs.
