Do we have anything close to a sustainable agriculture right now?

No. There are pockets of truly organic farms across the country, and there is a new demand for organics, but organic does not mean sustainable. The majority of the food in this country comes from factory farms that is mass produced and cheap to make. They do not use sustainable practices in any sense of the word; they pollute local water supply with chemical run-off, and they inhumanely slaughter millions of hormone-filled and sickly animals. They use the land until it cannot be used anymore without the aid of more chemicals which strip the land even further.
