The U.S. Department of Energy has a budget of 28.4 billion dollars for 2011 – 2.36 billion of that goes to Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.  Compared with 2010, wind power has a budget that is increased by 53%, and solar power’s budget is increased by 22%.

In 2010, solar power had an appropriated budget of around $166M, and wind power’s appropriated budget was around $75M.
