It is possible to follow a healthy, vegan diet that is not lacking in either vitamins or nutrients. However, the vitamins that are most commonly lacking in vegan and vegetarian diets include vitamin B12 and Omega-3s. While these vitamins are found mostly in meats and fish, it is possible to ingest these vitamins in certain vegetables, fruits, or nutritional vitamin supplements.
It is not necessarily difficult, but vegans do need to be more conscious of their vitamin intake than non-vegans. They need to eat a wide range of foods, and make sure they eat a variety within a day. Most vegans drink enriched plant-blased milks, which is one way they can get their vitamins. It is often recommended that they take vitamin supplements to ensure health.
