Yes they do; they carry diseases that do and do not transmit to humans. In fact, the sale of turtles smaller than 4 inches long has been banned because of the high rate of them causing salmonellosis in children. There are many other diseases they can get that harm just themselves too, such as shell rot, eye disorders, algae growth, respiratory disease, etc.
Yes turtles, like other reptiles that can be pets, do carry diseases. Turtles are potential carriers of Salmonella bacteria to their pet owners. Salmonella at its worse can lead to severe illness and hospitalization. It can be deadly to children under five and the elderly.
