Submarines are not known for killing mass amounts of fish, however it can happen. In recent years there has been rising concern that low frequency activated sonars (LFAS) can injure or even kill fish. It is also dangerous for whales, divers, and other aquatic beings. The issue was first brought up off the western coast of Scotland where UK and US nuclear subs frequent. While some claim that the LFAS were not to blame for the mass amounts of dead fish, LFAS are indisputably dangerous for the aquatic life it comes into contact with.
