Do storm chasers help us understand the environment?

Storm chasers or chasers sometimes do it simply for the thrill but regardless of their motivation, there is no denying that these people contribute a lot to the community by providing footage and images of the storms that they witness. They can help notify the local authorities about storms that are about to come. They can also provide other scientists with valuable information that not everyone can gain access to without going through such dangerous activity. To take a look at what these chasers go through it would be interesting to see the movie Twister which came out in 1996. Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt are in the movie.
