Female spiders lay their eggs in a silken sac that is typically ball shaped. Spiders can produce many egg sacs at one time which each contain a few hundred eggs, totalling more than 3,000 eggs in one ‘laying’ of egg sacs. A few weeks after the she lays the eggs (in the egg sac) the eggs begin to hatch, with baby spiders reaching adulthood in about one year’s time.
