Do solar panels wear out to where the output is zero volts in full sunlight?

Technically, it is possible for a solar power to degenerate to a point where it no longer produces any electricity. However, degrading to that extent would take a very long time; most solar panels can be expected to have an output greater than 80 percent for 25 to 40 years. Without an event outside normal wear and tear, it is highly unlikely that anyone should expect a solar panel to wear down to the point of uselessness.

AJ is correct. I don’t believe that it will ever fully wear out. A solar panel’s useful life should be from 25-40 years. The wiring or inverter are more likely to wear out before the panel does.
