Do solar panels have a warming or cooling effect on buildings?

They can have a cooling effect on buildings IF the panels are tilted.  The titled effect leaves gaps between the panels which allows for air to circulate and cool the panel surface.  The only drawback to the panels, is that the black surface of the panels absorbs high volumes of solar radiation which creates high temperatures on the panel itself.  This means night time temperatures of the building do not go as low as a building with a lighter roof color.  Also, the cooling effect is only noticed when the panels are titled, if they are flat, the roof will be warmer.
