Ever since the transcontinental railroad was put in, the traffic around the horn tapered off. Then in 1914 the Panama Canal was operational and so you didn’t need to go around Cape Horn even by sea. It is still a tempting trip for sailors that want to prove their mettle since it is a very dangerous navigation.
