There was a story a few years ago about a “shark cesarean” in a New Zealand aquarium. A male “school shark” bit a pregnant female in the stomach releasing four baby sharks. According the aquarium keeper, the cesarian may have saved the lives of the baby sharks, since, had the female given birth in the aquarium at night, the babies likely would have been eaten by sting-rays and larger sharks.
Such shark cesareans, when they do happen, are pure coincidence.
