Many large predatory sharks prefer seals. From a scientific standpoint the first thing to note on seals is their high blubber content, which provides a large amount of calories for a roving shark. One can also assume that the contents common to blood across their prey is something they enjoy as well, since it can incite feeding frenzies.
The assumption that the general public has of sharks is as “eating machines”, which is a myth–they bite almost anything because their mouths are the only tool they can use to interact with things they encounter. They have a fairly specific diet, just like any other animal would have, and in fact do not enjoy the taste of humans (but they will bite, they just don’t know their own strength!)
