Do researchers know why Stonehenge was built?

Theory used to be that Druids or Romans did, but this was later disproved since estimated building time was about 5000 years ago. Some believe it served as a religious center for sun worship or had an astrological purpose, but no definitive conclusion has yet been reached.

Not really. There’s a lot of conjecture about why Stonehenge was built. Some consider it to be a place of great religious importance, others point to its use as a burial ground and others say it has astronomical ties. The first pieces of Stonehenge are believed actually to date from 8,000 B.C.
