It depends on which kind of batteries you are using. There are three common types of rechargeable batteries: Nickel Cadmium, Nickel Metal Hydride and Lithium Ion. Nickel cadium can be charged 1,000 times before they are no longer effective. They have a life of about 2 years. Nickel metal hydride has about the same life span. Lithium ion batteries last a little longer and can be charged around 1,200 times and have a life span of 3 years.
