Do pesticides kill any insects that we need?

Pesticides are either sprayed on directly, or are genetically incorporated into the plant to kill harmful insects, but the pesticide doesn’t discriminate- it kills all the bugs.
I think the number one “insect we need” that’s threatened by pesticides is bees. Plants NEED bees to pollinate (they don’t need aphids or mole crickets or root worm…which are common insects that pesticide is used to kill).
