Do people use less energy when they get old?

As people age they become less efficient at using energy. The metabolism is lower, and it takes more energy to perform the same tasks. Thus, given the same tasks, an older person is probably more likely than a younger person to use more energy to perform the same task. The reduction in activity level of older people results in less expenditure of energy compared to younger persons.
