Do people still live in the plantation houses that are still in the south?

Generally, if the structure of the home itself is still in tact, the plantation will likely still be in use, either as a historical exhibit or as an actual residential household. Furthermore, the demand for homes that possess the plantation aesthetic remains somewhat strong – it’s not the connotation but the design and layout that appeals to prospective buyers.

Many are restored and maintained for historical purposes like Dayton Hall. For more pictures and information, look at this site of historic southern plantation homes.
