Honestly, it depends on where they live. The electricity itself generated by nuclear power is the same as any other kind of electricity and does not contain harmful radiation. There are reports that living near a nuclear power plant may increase cancer risks due to radioactive emissions, but these reports have been met with skepticism because of the methods used in the research, so more testing is necessary to determine if there’s a link. In general, nuclear plants are considered safe unless there is some kind of reactor failure or leak. France does have the highest rate of deaths cancer-related deaths in males in Europe, however, this has been attributed to the use of tobacco and alcohol, not nuclear power.
