A majority of fish contain a certain amount of mercury. Bigger predatory fish often contain more mercury because they eat other fish with various mercury levels. Since oysters are small and do not have a mercury rich diet, the levels of mercury found in oysters and other shell fish is less than that of most other fish, although it is present.
