Do our scientists have to get the same approval before talking about their research?

    I’m not entirely certain, but I think it really depends on the issue. For controversial topics like climate change, it is not only an issue of science but also of politics. During the Bush administration, one climate scientist from NASA said that NASA officials tried to silence him after he spoke about the immediate need to cut GHG emissions, though the officials deny this. The scientist, Dr. Hansen, was given warnings of “dire consequences” if he continued to speak out about climate change.
