Yes, companies and organizations who misguide consumers with vague or untrue intentions of saving the environment can be punished by the law. That being said, I don’t know how severe the punishment would be; the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has outlined a guide for the use of environmental market claims, if a company is in violation of the guides, legal action can be taken against the violators.
