Do organic compounds have low melting points?

Yes they have low melting points.  This is because many organic compounds are composed of only hydrocarbon chains.  These chains are only attracted to other hydrocarbon chains through Van Der Walls forces which are one of the weakest bonds.  As a result the bonds between molecules are not very strong.  Boiling points are often used to differentiate between different organic molecules.
