Do pets need passports when they travel internationally?

No, but you will probably need a health certificate and depending on the country the pet may be quarantined up to six months upon arrival. Before planning a trip with a pet it is very important to check the countries on your itinerary to make sure you don’t get any unwelcome surprises at the customs desk.
