Do nail salons produce a lot of pollution?

Nail salons do produce air pollution, which is at its worst within the nail salon where workers are exposed to it in an enclosed area for lengthy periods of time.  The services provided at these salons can release toxic pollutants which, after longterm exposure at a high enough level, can be responsible for cancer, reproductive issues, birth defects, and asthma.

The pollutants include solvents, which are responsible for volatile organic compounds and toxic air pollutants as well as smog.  Ethyl methacrylate and methy methacrylate monomer are used when applying artificial nails and can both lead to asthma.
