I’m not sure what the exact percentage is, but it seems like most of the world’s countries have banned or are phasing out leaded gasoline for cars. It was banned in the Eurpoean Union in 2000, China in 2001, Russia in 2003, and was phased out in Sub-Saharan Africa in 2006. The benefits of using unleaded gas are clear: the amount of lead in the bloodstream of the U.S. population dropped 78 percent after the EPA started phasing out leaded gas.
