    Yes, the fall is their dryest season, and many fires start accidentally all across Africa. However, many fires are also started intentionally to drive off predators and for agricultural purposes.

    Fires are an important part of prairie and savannah ecosystems. A seasonal fire prevents woody plants from taking over. The fire will burn native grasses without harming the roots allowing nutrients to be recycled back into the soil to promote new growth of native grasses.
