Do loggers use a lot of energy?

Traditional logging uses quite a bit of energy, if you are referring to the diesel fuel used in logging trucks, chainsaws and other equipment. Logging sites are often remote and down windy, unpaved roads which makes for terrible gas mileage. There is a movement to switch to sustainable forestry. It has been proposed that in order to be certified as sustainable a logging company must show more efficient use of energy, among other qualifiers.
