Pet lizards can be kept in a tank with saw dust on the floor. However, you should consider the species of lizard. If the lizard is a desert species, it is best to keep it on sand or a product available at pet stores that is like sand, but does not harm the lizard if it should eat some because it is a calcium supplement (this is good for the lizard). If the lizard lives in trees you should provide branches for it to climb on. Some tropical lizards like some geckos need high humidity, so moss would be better as saw dust will quickly rot.
Research where the lizard lives in the wild and see if saw dust would be similar to the substate in its natural environment. Lizards do not eat saw dust.
