The important thing to consider is that it’s not the size of the country that makes it more susceptible to climate change; rather, it depends on the stage of development the country is in. Less developed countries suffer from extreme drought, floods and other natural disasters triggered by climate change. If temperatures rise 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, poorer countries will face enormous costs associated with floods, droughts and deforestation linked to global warming – and Africa and South Asia are expected to lose as much as five percent of their gross national product.
