Do I need my house facing south to put solar panels on it?

No, you do not need for your home to be facing south in order to put solar panels on it. The panels simply need to be placed so that they are receiving “the most direct sun exposure” that they can. This position varies depending on the home’s location and the time of the year.

Actually the panels need to be facing south to receive the best sun. If you don’t have a good south facing roof because of shade or restrictions than to next best is the east facing roof. Also to maximize the intake od solar the panels need to at a 30 degree tilt or around that. But yes, optimally the south facing roof is the best for the panels.
