Yes, sustainable houses are usually equipped with some type of equipment which can generate clean, renewable energy. Perfect examples are houses that have installed solar panels, solar thermal energy collectors (for heating up the hot water or keeping a pool warm), or a wind turbine… Here’s an interesting idea: Because we all know you can make energy (right?) by riding on an electric bike… I wonder if someone could generate enough power for themselves to live off of? Like could you live in a house that has no heater and no A/C, and whatever lights or appliances you use have to be run off that energy that the person living in the house created by him or herself. You’d probably have to eat a lot of food! But would that be sustainable?
