Homes have relatively low levels of radiation. Microwaves, basement radon seepage and several other sources are potentials for radiation in homes, whereas the fuel used at a nuclear reactor is far more radioactive and hazardous. Chernobyl and the 3 mile island incident released significant amounts of dangerous radiation that spread over a wide area, but the average person’s home does not produce more radiation than nuclear power plants.
