Do landfills have to pay taxes by how much they receive?

In some countries as well as some states in the U.S., there is such a thing as a “landfill tax” which does increase as the landfill is used more and increases in size. These taxes, which are sometimes paid by both the landfill operators as well as the companies that employ the landfills, are used to discourage landfill use because of their detrimental effects on the environment as well as a means to raise funds. The United Kingdom employs this method of taxing much more than the U.S.
