Do animals have ethics?

I think ethics is a term and a condition dependent upon the human characteristics. Sure animals protect themselves and many species their kin, but that is more related to natural survival than anything. We can never truly know what any animal is thinking, but the idea of ethics is a very complex institution built from the complex social standards that humans have built over the years. Ethics goes beyond just survival of the fittest it is part of our intellectual pleasures, these types of pleasures separate us from most other animals.
