Both bears swim very well, but polar bears are probably the more dominant swimmers. They can swim for several hours and over very long distances – they’ve been tracked swimming for as far as 62 miles without stopping. Grizzly bears can swim, but their habitat doesn’t require the level of swimming that a polar bear’s does.
