Do green roofs recycle the water they use?

The water definitely can be reused. A rustic, yet ecologically sophisticated, green roof (first link below) in Thailand, reuses the drainage water for water storage for the green roof in dryer seasons or for additional landscaping nearby. In urban environments where stormwater drains into sewers, a USPS building in NYC (2nd link below) has a green roof that filters polluted stormwater runoff, indirectly creating cleaner drinking water for NYC residents.
