Do plants get their oxygen from water?

No plants actually get their oxygen from the CO2 they breathe. Once they take it in they break it down and use some of the 02. They just create a lot more of it then they use and subsequently give off the rest. The oxygen is taken in specifically from the roots, which is why you can drown a houseplant. Also, if the plant is doing green it is producing more oxygen then it is using.
