    Yes, fireworks do create substantial air pollution. In the smoke and debris released by fireworks are many heavy metals and noxious chemicals. Fireworks release such hazards as sulfur,barium,dioxin(linked to cancer),antimony,rubidium,strontium,lithium,cadmium,and potassium nitrate. According to The Ecologist, millennium celebrations in 2000 caused environmental pollution worldwide, filling skies over populated areas with “carcinogenic sulphur compounds and airborne arsenic.” Fireworks cause environmental damage as well.
