Some farmers get financial help from the government to purchase water. This is usually in the form of subsidies.
Yes, a lot of farmers get water subsidies from the government to help pay for the cost of the water that they use in order to grow our food. However, studies show that a select 10% of farmers get about 67% of the water subsidies. These subsidies usually go to large factory farmers, and not the smaller organic farmers, which is probably a contributing factor to why organic foods are a lot more expensive than non-organic foods. They usually come from smaller farmers and we pay the extra costs of water.
