Do express subway trains with fewer stops use less energy than trains that make all the stops along the same route?

Yes. A subway train uses a certain amount of energy even when its not moving. This energy is used to open doors, keep the lights on, operate the public address system, etc. Since the local train will be operating for a longer period of time because it is moving more slowly and making all of the stops, it will use more energy than the faster moving express train.
