do english snakes make holes in garden soil?

    This Web site seems to suggest that they will not.  If an English snake, or grass snake, is to be found in a garden, it would be one with a pond and/or a compost heap — either of which would be its primary habitat.  Also, the English snake’s diet — different reptiles and amphibians would not be found in garden soil.
